Roch and the Orioles obviously think So. Roch thinks that the Orioles should just let him go anyway. Duquette feels otherwise.

I don't think screwing with Willis is worth alienating Matt Sosnick.

Does anyone want to see him pitching with the big club?

If you walk out on the Orioles AAA team, you better start preparing yourself for life in the real world.

And I think this sums it up best! When he was signed it was very clear to him by all media accounts that he was going to be used as a reliever. As terrible as he looked in that spring training game, I saw little reason to believe he is a major league pitcher anymore, especially by his amateurish mannerisms on the mound when things were going bad. The Orioles should just release him.

Best thing to do is to grant his release. If he shows up as a lefty specialist for another ML team (probably DD's fear) then Willis will look pretty bad.

Grant his release. Keep a careful eye on what takes place next. If it looks fishy then file a complaint to MLB. Maybe we will have a case.

Either way Dontrelle is likely done.

- Per MLBTR

So.. is Duquette really just a crazy guy? The South Korea thing, then this. I find it all rather amusing, but I could see how DD ticked some people off in his time in baseball.

I'm not sure why Duquette is wasting time or brain cells over this. If the guy wants to start and can't be convinced he's a reliever, then release him and wish him well.

Supposedly Japanese and Korean teams are interested. Any chance we can trade him to some Korean team for the right to not be banned and have humiliating signs posted about us?

I don't care who you are, that right there is funny.

Why not just release him? He clearly does not want to pitch in a relief role or be a part of the Orioles organization. I can't see forcing him into playing for the Orioles turning out well, it's not like he's a valuable commodity.

Funny line from that story:

Sosnick denied speculation that Willis has received interest from a club in Japan or Korea. He said he would be happy to reach a financial accommodation with the Orioles should Willis pursue opportunities in Asia.

"I have not been contacted by any Asian team about Dontrelle," Sosnick said. "But I know that Dan has closer ties to Korea than I do, so maybe he knows something that I don't know."
