This is the kind of game where we look back and say "thats when the offense started to show life again". Lets score 4-5 have good ABs and see what we can do. Already Hardy looks better, Jones a good AB. Lets get some runs and create some momentum

He also had 35 pitches in the first 2 innings, and it should have been more with Roberts' walk, and what would have been the continuance of an inning in which he was on the ropes.

Roberts still had the walk. He swung at ball four high on the 3-1 pitch he popped up. Yes, Danley's strike zone (against our hitters) stinks.

Well, considering that the the 2-0 pitch was a foot outside and was still called a strike, how in the hell is Roberts supposed to use any kind of strike-zone judgement/not swing at a ball out of the strike zone when the umpire is calling just about everything a strike anyway ???

Sorry, but that kind of umpiring throws any kind of fair play/prudent decisions completely out of whack for everybody on the field.
