He's filling a role kind of like what Britton filled at the very beginning of the year - a guy who can come in for multiple innings and shut things down. He's been quietly very valuable.

An amazing pick up. Check this out:

28 years old. Not a FA until 2019. Pffff.

Gotta say I thought he was just having a randomly good year, but dude put up a 3.19 last season in 33 games. And a 3.78 in 67 games the year before that. So he's had some success.

Couple tweaks here by and there by Wallace and we have a flame-throwing reliever with a nasty slider who is just killing it right now.

His ERA is just a shade over 2 since his first game where he flew into Minnesota late and then pitched that day when getting to the park at game time and was clearly not ready.

o

(vs. D-RAYS, 8/26)

1.33 shutout innings, but his 2nd inning of work was shaky.

He entered the game with 2 outs, a runner on 2nd base, and 1 run already in.

He struck out Will Myers to end the threat, and minimize the damage.

The next inning, he gave up a single and 2 walks to load the bases with only 1 out.

On an excellent defensive play by both Chris Davis and Caleb Joseph, Brach induced Desmond Jenning to ground out to 3rd base to force the lead runner at home plate for the 2nd out of the inning.

Then, Brach was able to get Ben Zobrist to fly out to leftfield to end the threat, and keep the score tied at 2 apiece.

Here's a good read about Brach. Now this article even has me liking him more than I already do. :hearts:

I had no idea he was a huge Orioles fan. :2yay-thumb:

Freehold, NJ is about an hour away from the Big Apple. So Brad was raised as a big New York Mets fan. Unfortunately, the Mets kinda stunk when he was a kid (believe me, I understand you, Brad). So, in addition to his squad, he decided to root for the team that would beat the Yankees. If we travel back to the early and mid 90s, that team was the Baltimore Orioles.

It's amazing that those are the numbers for essentially a 5th inning / 6th inning / long relief guy in our pen. Makes you reminisce about the days of Dennis Sarfate. :mwahaha:

I will always have fond memories of Mark Williamson, long man, emergency starter, for two years, he was extremely sharp here.
