How good does he play defense? Can he play center? His stats look very similar regardless of levels. I think he will likely hit in the bigs. What I really want to know where we might slot him. With Camden we have need for a left fielder that can go get the ball like a centerfielder. Can this kid do it? Compared to Cowser how is his defense? -
k rate is still a concern but like the progress. He only has 2 stolen bases which is a bit surprising to me. -
Syndergard? He had a rep as a good batter, I think? -
The union doesn’t care about quality of performance, but about protecting member jobs. They will absolutely scream at anything that interferes with jobs or that attempts to penalize poor performance. It is possible, barely possible, that they might be induced to police themselves because there are good umpires, and then there are Angel Hernandezes, and all the empires know how sucky the bad ones are.

Decinces with the Angels accumulated 18.9 bWAR while Disco Dan had 1.2 bWAR. 😲 The Orioles left side of the infield could have been Decinces and Cal for much of the 1980s. In the long run it probably doesn't change much, but maybe Decinces being on the 1982 Orioles pushes the team into the playoffs over the Brewers. Maybe I was wrong about that what if the Orioles won back-to-back World Series in 1982 and 1983. -

I remember many of those players that had unusual stances like Franco would stand like that and shift into a someone normal posture right as the pitch was being thrown. -

Since we're talking about unusual batting stances it gives me an excuse to post Julio Franco batting. It worked for Franco, but I don't know how he got his bat through the zone in time to make decent contact and also hit the ball hard. Plus his knees were buckling in addition. I don't think today's coaches would allow him to use this stance even if the results in MILB were good.
