Trade Schoop?

Zobrist was a fantasy favorite of mine until this past season. Having the ability to play several positions with decent offensive production, enhanced his fantasy value.

Right but he is steadily approaching a dangerous age for baseball players.

We are not saying he isn't a fine player, but that the team that signs him next offseason might regret it.

Schoop's approach at the plate is not very encouraging at all. The habits he is developing don't magically disappear with age -- they get worse.

Hopefully the Os train him hard this offseason rather than treat it as a 6-month vacation because the kid's offensive game is a mess.

Why do you say that? The only offensive components that decline from an early age seem to be speed and maybe batting average. Power and plate discipline tend to gradually get better with age, usually peaking past a player's overall peak at 27. It would be fairly surprising if most aspects of Schoop's offensive game didn't improve over the next 3-5 years.

Seems like speed declines because players get bigger, which would make sense why power improves as well. Only problem with Schoop is he is so big now, can his frame handle 2B with an added 15 pounds? If not, would an even improved bat play at 3B?

Schoop is going to reinvent second, much like Mike Singletary did.

Wait' date=' you mean that is where you see him eventually filling out to, or that is his current weight? If that is his current weight, I have no hope as a future carny, because I never would have guessed that was what he topped the scales at.[/quote']

He was 230 something this spring. So maybe he lost weight.
