I am not buying health issue as main reason. I think lack of OBP is the one. The next hitting instructor will be from outside the organization, book it.

Spent 2 years as Pirates hitting coach (2006-2007) and one with White Sox (2013).

BJ or Thome would have been good choices. Thome could teach those guys some patience.

Why wold he ask for a reassignment after four years, two playoff appearances, and pretty consistent offensive numbers if he or the organization felt he wasn't doing a good job? If the organization felt like he wasn't they would have canned him, be it Buck, Dan, or both. But, Presley asked for it, which rings loudly of either a health issue or something else going on personally that would have affected his ability to commit.

Anyway, like I said earlier it isn't 2009 anymore. With the larger strike zone a patient approach is going to lead the batter to being in the hole more often.

I'd be OK with Surhoff, Anderson, or Thome, just to see them in uniform again. Hard pass on Raul, don't let that bloodsucking vampire anywhere near our dugout. Also, isn't Charlie Manuel like 800 years old?
