I know this won't happen but I hope we rob them blind and flop whatever we get with a prospect for Hammels.

On a serious note, I'm sure Dan isn't intentionally checked out, but when you don't want to do something and someone is holding you back from a goal, there's going to be animosity and lack of heart. He's not intentionally dragging his feet, but it's happening

He is not being held back. If he does not go, it is because his new potential employers did not value him enough.

Right, obviously Dan wants the gig or else none of this would be happening. And I'm ready to be done with Dan, too, as long as they can work out the compensation. I guess I don't see the point of an open letter telling Dan to do exactly what he wants and intends to do, but currently can't.

Got it. Makes sense.

Rosenthal and Reynolds talking about DD on MLB Network. Basically Reyonolds saying he would be upset if he were an Orioles fan with all the inactivity. Rosenthal says clearly DD is not engaged in the offseason.

No, we're not and I do see where you're coming from...and at the end of the day, I can't fault anyone for taking a better job in terms of a higher pay grade, more responsibilities, better job title. My day job is a recruiter/headhunter, so this is what I deal with on a daily basis. I'm always trying to do this type of thing, pulling people out of companies and placing them in other ones. Looking at it from that perspective I can't get TOO mad.

But sports is different and as a fan, it's all about passion and feelings and...I @#$%ing hate Toronto, you know? It's like, why OUR guy? Why us? There are other GM's out there, you had to poach OUR guy? Like I said in my original post, we had such a long string of crap baseball and losing seasons and we finally get back on track, this guy is a big part of it and...now he's gone? All because Toronto has to stick their little blue #$%^ in our affairs? GTFO.

I know we've had our differences over the years but I'm glad we agree on this. Toronto can go play in traffic.

It's gotta be the Teixeira saga. IIRC there were like three or four threads that were longer than this and the mods would shut em down and start a new one cause they got too big or something. I think the Tex thing was the biggest OH saga of all time.

I see your headhunting example but I assume none of the people you are recruiting are under contract. I see this more of a marriage and when you a marriage contract and if you want to get out of it expect to pay a boat load.. Well that is what I had to do get out of my first marriage. And it hurts when you are the one who was thinking was going fine and the other person decides to say saynora.

Maybe I completely misunderstood Soprano's open letter - like I said, I had no idea what his point was - but it seems like he does.
I'm done with trying to keep him. Done. Work out a trade and fare thee well. There is no turning back in my opinion. That doesn't change the fact that I am extraordinarily infuriated with Toronto. I want them to pay big for tampering. That word "tampering" is getting a lot of airplay of late, so the Orioles must have a case. Did Rogers reach out directly to Duquette like he did Williams before the team owner? Even their own newspapers say Rogers really made a huge mess out of this.
The way Jays ownership has handled this has been a disgrace. They have tarnished the legacy of Beeston, who was only going to stay on for one more season anyways. They have disrespected all Canadian presidential possibilities like current business exec Stephen Brooks. They have made a silent statement about, and thus made it difficult and uncomfortable for, current GM Alex Anthopoulos, who has not commented on the situation, perhaps too busy looking over his shoulder.

If they think too many times, theyll be dealing with a slew of tampering charges.
