Was designated for assignment by the twins. At 23, in a brief stint with them, he had a 1.035 OPS in 20 Gs. Hasn't been able to come close since. Is he a Target Field casulty? Has had VG numbers in the minors. Has a lot of outfield experience at lf and rf. What do you think?

He's been worth -.9 rWAR over the last 3 seasons and has a career 96 OPS+ so I don't know if I'd call him a Target Field casulty. I'd just call him not very good.

Can't argue that he has had a tough time since his baptism in 2011. But h's been very good throughout his AA and AAA career playing well below the league average age level. He's shown good power and excellent OBP throughout his minor league career in some quality leagues. He may have been rushed and lost confidence. A change of scenery might do him good.

Well that only works if no one else claims or trades for him.

I think I'd take a chance of putting him on the 40-man. The guy is only 26 and his away OPS is over 100 points higher than at Target Field. Granted, it's a very small sample.

His minor league numbers show pretty well including a .295/.395/.530 line at the AAA in about a season's worth of plate appearances...and in the International League, not the PCL.

Parmelee, a left-handed hitter, was the 20th overall pick in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft. Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette likes former first-rounders.

There are a lot of worse guys to take chances on. Travis Snider and Parmelee are the same pedigree; both drafted in the first round, both in their mid 20's, both left handed with pop, and both with killer minor league #s...and of course both with struggles their first few years. Snider finally had his mini break-out last year at age 26. There's no reason why Parmelee can't do the same thing at age 27, especially if he were hitting in OPAC vs Target Field.

For everyone who was aboard the Matusz for Snider train, there's no reason not to be aboard the Parmelee train.

It sure would be nice to have a impact player signed rather to hear all the time about a Designated for Assignment.Common this team isn't that bad off. Make something happen DD.It would probably do him well to look at the board.I guess there's time before all the trash has been taken out.

Option status doesn't matter. If it is his first time being out righted he can't refuse. Though I get a tad confused on the policy during the winter if he can become a minor league free agent anyway.
