Even if he desparately wants to go to Toronto, deliberately tanking the Os off season would be incredibly stupid on DD's part. He would be in a heap of trouble, possibly legal trouble if he were to do this.

What might be happening is that DD is being distracted by this whole thing.

This is eye-opening to me to say the least

When Montreal Expos president Claude Brochu confronted then-GM Dan Duquette with rumours that the Red Sox were pursuing the New England native to be their own general manager in January 1994, Brochu informed him he was under contract and that he would not let him go. The response from Duquette, who had taken over the Expos from Dave Dombrowski in 1991, was that if he stayed his heart may not be in it and he would not be able to do the job to the best of his abilities.

Fast forward 21 years to January 2015 and rumours are now out there that the Blue Jays are interested in hiring Duquette to be baseball president and CEO, in a similar capacity to Theo Epstein in Chicago with the Cubs and Andrew Friedman with the Dodgers.

You can question Duquette's long term commitment to the Orioles, but to suggest he's deliberately tanking and not even trying this offseason is beyond ludicrous. There's literally no incentive to do it. First off, there is no open position in Toronto, so unless Toronto fires Beeston or just has Duquette hanging around for a year getting paid, not that they'd want to, there's no place for him to go. Secondly, Duquette doesn't even get himself in this position without working hard, and getting results. Why would he in any way jeopardize that by tanking in the responsibilities he's still owed? That's not going to endear himself on either side, never mind that doing so could create justification to actually cut his pay with the Orioles, especially if he doesn't go anywhere. Why would Duquette deliberately screw himself over if there's even a specter of possibility that he doesn't go anywhere this offseason, either because the position doesn't exist, Angelos wins, or Duquett the issue. It simply doesn't make sense.

Buddhist monks might be waiting outside of Camden Yards right now with gasoline and video equipment in order to protest this thread. No person would intentionally sabotage their own career unless they are insane.

Whoever said yes probably thinks the moon landing didn't happen.

Moon landing ???

I haven't heard anything about it.

I'm just looking forward to the Colts taking on Joe Namath's Jets in the Super Bowl a week from Sunday.
