Two reasons to love Zach Britton

Seems like most blown saves for both Jim Johnson and Zach started with an infield hit or two. It's an occupational hazard for a sinkerballer. Great point that he hasn't let the other team take the lead in either of his blown saves, enabling us to scratch out a win in extra innings both times.

Sell high. Trade him this off-season, coming off an All Star season and before he becomes too expensive to keep. Fill a major league need or replenish the farm

The front office's willingness to listen to offers for Britton will be inversely proportional to the level of denial they are in about the other gaping holes that will exist on this team when the season ends and the FAs leave.

Seems like Britton is gaining velocity as the season goes on. He's been sitting at 98 mph in his recent games. It's amazing that anyone hits the guy.

I was glad to hear the other day that he wanted to work on his fielding. He's actually a very good fielding pitcher, IMO. But, he had a lapse where he was slow to cover 1B recently and it's good to hear he is aware of it and wants to focus on it. A guy who induces that many infield choppers really needs to do his job defensively.

Zach is a wonderful closer but he is not a robot. He left that pitch up to Valencia enough that he could shot it to right field. It wasn't one of his best pitches.

True, true... But he has to pitch up sometimes, just to change the eye angle and make that low FB/Sinker more devastating. Just keep the high ones above the titties, Zach, and everything will be all right.
