Cant have 'glass man' Hays diving for the ball. His most recent injury was just from rounding first on a hit and going back to the base. -
They’re not as good as their record, for sure. But their pitching is quite good so long as they don’t sustain any more significant injuries for a while. It would be nice to think that Judge, Rizzo and Torres have totally lost it. But I doubt it. -

I think KB is terrific overall, noting someone with a quirky approach and sense of humor by definition is going to draw detractors. Such things are always open to personal taste. But few do a big moment better than Kevin. I agree that the fluff can go on too long sometimes, and he needs to realize that a Miller diabetes tale is best told at a different time. But man if you listen to most other teams’ announcers, so so many are absolutely unlistenable. I don’t see any future Millers or Thompson’s waiting their turn, just enjoy who we’ve got right now -
22,965 for the Friday night game with Oakland. That’s a bit lower than the third Friday night of last year, which came a little later in the Spring (May 12) against Pittsburgh (and drew 25,682). I’d imagine that Pittsburgh generally is a bigger draw in Baltimore than Oakland is, since it’s a pretty easy drive for Pirate fans who want to visit Camden Yards. I’m guessing tonight’s bobblehead game will draw well. The rest of the comparable Pirate series was 22 k and 36 k (on Mothers’ Day).

I think some folks are correlating velocity with arm health. -
Though I criticized that play last night, overall he’s looked good in the field this year. 3 of the 4 defensive metrics I look at have him in positive territory: 2 OAA, 1.3 UZR, 1 Rdrs, -2 Rtot. He’s faster than Hays and covers more ground. Hays catches anything within diving range and has great body control, but many of those balls he dives for would be caught without diving by a faster outfielder or one who gets better jumps. Not that I’m complaining about Hays, who was a deserving Gold Glove nominee last year.
