It's baseball. We are all going to be wrong a lot and right a little. The problem is that when "a select few" think they are right, they want to tell you "I told you so" until your ears and eyes bleed.

In baseball all batters fail 65% of the time. It is a ripe playground for "I told you so" sorts. Especially those who are not held accountable for their misses as well as the team's.

Not too mention, the game itself and the decision making process from the manager POV, leads to all kinds of hindsight revelations and I told you so moments.

Drungo is definitely more saberish, I referenced SG because MSK was complaining about how he and others are being treated. SG was about the most condescending internet guy I have seen. I was ok with it, because I stopped wearing panties years ago and I did respect SGs knowledge. He really knew a lot. Drungo for the most part is civil but just simply knows more about baseball then pretty much everyone.

I really liked Lucky Jim, he was a smart guy and while he could be condescending it wasn't usually until after a poster had bludgeoned the board with drivel. Really no one offends me here. I get annoyed with the posters who beat the same drum over and over but it's a message board and I can just look past it. I don't like the whining and persecution complexes some people seem to have, but again I can look past it. The moderators here do a good job of keeping it under control. I learned pretty quick here that if you offer an opinion you better be able to support it with facts other than feelings, rainbows, and water lillies. To be honest its what makes it the best site out there IMO.

Before I came here years and years ago, I didn't know or understand much about sabermetrics. For the most part I have learned most of what I know from you guys, or things that I have seen here has led me to investigate further. I will say that while I subscribe to the vast majority of it there is some stuff I don't buy into yet (defensive metrics for instance).

Not too much here I could argue with.

Here are the 2013 offseason transactions. Until Jimenez was signed on Feb, 19, and Cruz was signed 5 days later, the biggest move was acquiring Davis Lough on December 18. Given how 2014 went, the only move that really paid off was Cruz. There was no talk of Toronto then. Ditto, the 2012 offeason when the biggest name still on the team is McFarland .

Contract extensions and arbitration increases added to payroll this year. After that, we don't know what payroll flexibility Dan had left. Pay no attention to the body of work from Tillman, and Norris to date, or that Hardy has missed over half of the games played. Instead, we'd rather point to conspiracy theories, and disparage Dan's work ethic. Whatever.

I am confused by this. Kelsey was very polite and professional and never said that. What does this refer to? Who specifically is disaparaging Dan's work ethic? If they said that, that's moronic. I think what they are saying is that it would not be out of the realm of possibility that DD might not be 110% focused during a dispute where he doesn't know what team or position he might have in a month. I think DD is a good gm. I don't think he is superman. But either way, I don't know of anyone that would question is work ethic.

In the MacPhail days there were countless posts directly saying that he was lazy because he didn't execute the proper quantity of transactions. Lazy, like he's just hanging out in the break room talking about his fantasy team instead of doing work. Really.

I had never read that on here. If that is the case, fair enough. I just thought Kelsey seemed to be very professional with this post and topic.

I have also learned from people on here. I look at numbers all day and really want to watch the game for the fun of it. Let other people do the numbers.

Yes, quite a few people have considered this as the reason for the lackluster offseason results.

But it's a tough subject to broach here because you can't really quantify his poor choices with UZR, WAR or PECOTA. I mean, you could use your eyes to see the results of his being distracted by a potential new assignment.

Also, wins and losses tell the story but according to a select few, DD did an outstanding job during the winter months.

      The bullpen has much more depth this year than last year but it just feels like you don’t know who will be the guy each night.  Last year it was get to the 8th and you knew it was Cano and Bautista and lights out.  This year it doesn’t seem to be set roles especially with Kimberly strugggles and out as clasper for now possibly.  I also think Hyde gets a lot of grief about how he handles the bullpen but I think he has been great at looking at the game situation and with who he wants facing what guys.  Cano might come in the 6th one night then close the next, same with Webb or even Coulumbe.  I know a lot of it is analytics but as a group they make a plan and seem to stick with it instead of some managers that have 7 inning guy an 8th inning guy and closer and don’t deviate much.

      On the replay you can see that Julio was lightly jogging after the ball-- either assuming the RF would get it, or assuming Hays wouldn't run. Good on Hays for taking advantage and turning it into a double.

      I think in general people are more negative in life not just in sports and they need to blame someone or something.  In previous years we had a scapegoat in Peter and John.  Elias didn’t go out and make a trade it was because he didn’t have the money to go get anyone or the owner didn’t want to spend.  Now for the most part people seem to think new ownership will give the ok to spend more so now if we don’t do it it is on Elias, Sig, and Hyde for not getting best out of the players.  We dint make a big trade last year and most people just went with well John is cheap we don’t do what they want now it will fall on Elias more then last year in peoples eyes imo.

      The Yankees have been extremely healthy on offense as well.  If that somehow happens all year they will be right there with us but if I was a betting man I don’t think Judge, Stanton, Rizzo can stay healthy all year and they have very little depth behind those guys.  Besides Adley we have guys at every other position that can fill in if someone goes down.  There might be a drop some but I don’t think it would be catastrophic like losing Judge or Soto.
