If you aren't too afraid to look, here is the progress of our starting rotation to date. I will update this as the spring goes along.

Ubaldo Jimenez

3/12: 3.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K's

Miguel Gonzalez

3/04: 1.1 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 0 BB, 0 K's

3/08: 2.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

3/13: 1.2 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 2 K's

Kevin Gausman

3/05: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K's

3/10: 2.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K (B game; only recorded 2 outs in the 2nd inning)

Yovani Gallardo

3/09: 2.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 0 K's

3/14: 2.1 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 1 K

Chris Tillman

3/10: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K's (B game; the hit came after 3 were already out in the 2nd inning)

3/15: 1.2 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 1 K

Gallardo signed late and missed the beginning of camp. Tillman had a strained hip flexor and missed some time. That's why they are a little further behind. Gausman starts tomorrow. Note that six of our games have been started by someone who is not expected to be in the starting rotation. Vance Worley and Mike Wright are scheduled to start in Thursday's split squad games.

Yikes. Ubaldo is the only one other than Gausman to have a good start and Gausman's (I believe) have all been against B lineups and he hasn't gone more than two innings.

I'm concerned by the lack of innings as much as I am about them getting torched. These guys need to be progressing up to 4and 5 innings over the next week or two.

That is not a pretty picture. I hope that Miguel and Tillman turn their springs (and careers) around soon.

Per Roch, Gallardo is going to start on Saturday, 3/19. That pushes Gonzalez out of the slot behind Jimenez, where he has been pitching so far. Hmm.... :scratchchinhmm:

The reports out of camp indicating Miguel is topping out at 89 (ish) are alarming. Maybe there is no fire to light, and MG has finally lost his mojo.

I would over react to the first 4+ inning these guys have pitched in the last 6 months. That said, Gonzo has Wilson and Worley breathing down his neck.

Now the starts can make or break all 3.

I am fine with Gonzo to the bullpen and Wilson to start. I think we need to see more Wilson though first.

Ubaldo has gotten his innings up to a nice level, albeit against AAA competition the last two times out. I'd really like to see the other guys going 5+ this week. Gonzo's turn today in another important tune-up for him, hoping to show he's back on track.
