You seem to know all of the best FA's next year. Trumbo certainly isn't going to finish with a .900 OPS. His history says he probably won't finish with a .800 OPS. There are other 1B, such as Adam Lind, and Encarnacion who are just as good if not better.

Trumbo's career OPS+ is 113 vs. 112 for Lind. Pretty much everything points to Trumbo being a better glove at 1st. Add in the fact that Trumbo is two years younger and I don't know how you can suggest that Lind is the better FA candidate other than non-Oriole = better player.

To be fair, I think they did evaluate what deals were out there and decided that the QO was the best course of action. They certainly didn't sign a LT extension prior to FA eligibility, which I believe was the initial point being discussed in the response you are quoting.

Not that he and his .194 batting average was that daunting in the first place, albeit he does have 5 home runs.

Since C.C. Sabathia threw 7 shutout innings against the Orioles earlier this month, he has pitched in 2 games.

n Friday, he pitched 6 innings of 1-run ball against the Athletics, walking 1 and striking out 8.

Today against the Blue Jays, he pitched 7 innings and gave up 0 earned runs, walking 1 and striking out 7.

His ERA for the season is down to 2.83.
