Dylan Bundy Thread

105.7 had an interview with him today. He flat out said he no longer throws the cutter which he described as more of a slider because it caused forearm pain. He has had no forearm pain this year.

Was also asked about an inning limit and he said as far as he knows he has none. He will keep pitching as long as he feels good. Was asked about recent velocity being down and he said he is just getting into the routine of being a starting pitcher.

He will not even try the cutter/slider again. He blames it for much of his arm trouble.

Damn shame. I wonder how effective he can be on days that he doesn't have a certain pitch. Only throwing a fastball, change and curveball can get you in trouble if any one of them isn't on point. This is potentially a crossroads for Bundy and the O's.

Generally speaking, I don't have a lot of faith in 3 pitch pitchers on days they don't have control. Every start isn't going to be how it was his first few/dominant starts.

Im not worried about Bundy if his health is there. He has astonishing talent and if he remains healthy should be our ACE in years to come.I thought the Red Sox hit some great pitches. They wont do that everytime.

I think his velocity was down a bit, his fastball was lacking movement and he couldn't command the curve.

I also know that when he loses fastball velocity he loses separation between it and his change up.

I think he's fatigued from his workload and it would be in the team's best interest to get him a bit of a breather.

It's also great that he has rolled his ankle before, because now, it won't well as much.

LOL!! Really. He is a 23 year old in his first full season in the big leagues pitching to an ERA of 3.36. That is why I am glad Dan Duquette is making the baseball decisions and not internet posters.

The guy has 3 plus pitches, that is plenty. How many starters have 4 great pitches?

This game is going to be all about Dylan. And honestly the season really hinges on him going forward.

Is he going to throw 92-93 with little fastball command barely go 4-5 IP?

Or will he get back to throwing 94-96 with command of both sides of the plate and go 6-7 IP?

Hopefully the second. This club desperately needs a sharp outing by a starter to set the tone and get back on track.

Nice outing by Dylan tonight. He sawed off a lot of bats.

I'm happy the Os won and Dylan got through six only yielding two.

However, he walked 4 in those six and his velocity dipped for the second straight game. That's the slowest fastball he's carried since April and his third straight decline in speed. He was a full 2 mph slower than the 96 mph fastball he carried through the previous 10 game span of stretched-out relief appearances and first three starts. He's now above 80 innings for the year. I'm certainly paying attention.

I get kind of annoyed when Buck thinks the fans are stupid.

Yeah, Bundy's velocity decline has been noticeable. Maybe they should skip his next start, see if he can get his strength back up for the final September push. He's dominant at 96-97; he struggles at 93 (according to my eyeballs, anyway).

He is still better then the Wrecking Ball and

even with reduced velocity.
