The Curious Case of Tyler McFarland & Nolan Reimold

Wow. Just wow.

Neither one of these guys should be on a major league roster.

They brought up Bridewell probably to see what they have there since his on the 40-man, I get that move. But Ondursek (spelling, who cares) and McFarland? Please.

We have Garcia on the 40-man. We have Drake. We have Despaigne. Gunkel (in rotation though, get that).

Beato, Rodriguez, Andy Oliver. (not on the 40 man).

My goodness...tired of seeing the same cast of clowns out there. Make some 40-man moves.

I know it doesn't drastically alter things, but we need to see what we have depth-wise. Beato for one, has been with us for 2 years now.....

Agree with you on Reimold. He brings nothing now that we have Pearce. Makes no sense to go short in the bullpen when our pitchers are struggling so much and Tillman and O'Day out.

However the options in AAA are not good. I don't think Despaigne is available yet. Garcia can't get outs at AA. I agree, Drake and Gunkel are next up but not much more confident in them than TJ/Ondrusek/Wilson.

Dan has to be blamed for how little quality pitching depth we have in our organization.

It's shockingly awful how little we have in the pipeline.

His dumpster diving strategy has been nothing but a complete failure at every possible level.

This is a catastrophic failure from which we will not recover.

I TRULY, SINCERELY wish Dan duquette was toronto's problem right now.

I wouldn't say his dumpster diving is a bad thing. The problem as you mentioned is that due to how bad he's let the minors wallow he's had to do way too much dumpster diving and obviously has not been able to make up for the lack of minor league talent. And that as mentioned earlier is his own doing.

Been on record I thought he should have been transitioned out of the role some time ago...but at the OH love him here or they just get tired of hearing people complain about him, boo hoo. A board of bullies that are always right retroactively, but never willing to go against the board anthem. Courage behind the keyboard.

DD is not a bad GM, but he has been so bad with our starting pitching that literally the opposite move would have been better in most cases. He has been a disaster there.

Are you ready for next offseason with Ubaldo AND Gallardo on the books? And down 2 first round picks and no Davies? Not even mentioning Jake Arrietta (I know, tired of hearing this...but he traded him)...

So yes he has made some good moves for depth and the Trumbo move was killer, but you don't get to keep your job for one good move out of 5. This board is the only board that continually makes excuses for him. It's a joke.

Here's a fresh idea. Let's hijack a thread with a decent premise so we can throw yet another tantrum and bash Dan Duquette some. We haven't done that for, oh I don't know, at least 15 minutes now.

I agree that Remold's time has run out and I don't care that September is just around the corner.

The Brach move very good, the Kim signing good move, Alvarez was a decent move. He has made lot more then 1 good move. Chen move good as well.

Can you find that post you made protesting the Arrieta trade?

Dan made a move to get Upton for Ubaldo but owner would not pay the money. If so probably no Reimold.

My main point is he has failed miserably to assemble a competent starting staff despite the payroll to do it. I do not question he's done a good job with depth (AM was atrocious with depth) and a handful of moves.

But I am pretty sure trading a possible HOFer (Arrietta) clouds the Kim or Trumbo move. Plus, we all know Dan will get cute and let Trumbo walk like an idiot.

I recall most of the board being opposed to the Gallardo trade as well as the Davies trade. You are not the only one who has been critical of DD.

    • Smith and Bowman signed Milb contacts, stop period. which means if they not have 6 years MLB service they make minor league money if they are in the minors. Albert signed a one guarenteed contract, 740k. Itwas A Milb contract to keep him off the 40. Even if he got DFA or never pitched one inning of MLB he still makes the 740k. He was good enough to demand this contract and get it. Smith and Bowman were not.
    • Just because you sign as a free agent doesn’t mean you aren’t subject to the rules around 6 years of service time. For instance, I don’t believe Burch Smith or Matt Bowman can elect free agency unless they are outrighted, released, or non-tendered. However, there are examples of foreign professionals being eligible to elect free agency early - for example Shintaro Fujinama last year.  It’s not part of the CBA, but presumably the commissioner will approve that special covenant as part of an FA deal if the player has at least 6 years of experience in foreign league.  It’s possible they would let Suarez combine his 1 year MLB service time (prior to this season) with his 3 years in NPB and 2 years in KBO.  And it’s possible they let Suarez write these terms into an MILB contract that had split MLB terms.  It wouldn’t have been my starting assumption, but it seems plausible.
    • Here I am checking in. We and our condo on the east side of Asheville made it through unscathed. On Tuesday we flew into DC and moved into a hotel in Falls Church. Our son, Eric, ordered us to make that trip and made all the arrangements because we had no internet and limited cell service. We expected to stay a week while electricity is restored and then we learned about the dire water situation. We are moving in with Eric and his family who have been supporting us in every way possible, anticipating needs and things that would help us. Our daughter, Robyn, and her husband, Ken live about 30 miles west of Asheville , Waynesville, had no damage, never lost power or water. Today they rescued my car from $30 a day hourly parking, threw out everything that was beginning to make the condo stink and tied up  a few ends we left loose when we left Dodge in a hurry. They are, collectively, the loving, supportive family everyone should want and have .
    • You should really try to read. It will make you less slow.
    • Just pointing out that not everyone wanted Adley extended last year.
    • Hopefully he will spend money to keep guys long term.    This was a puff piece.
    • At least Joe Jackson seemed to be a decent human.
