To me, hitting Smith and Kim 1-2 against RHP is a no brainer.  LHP isn't as clear cut.  Rickard and Mancini are no guarantee to produce.

Makes them vulnerable to a LOOGY later in the game.    Buck seems to prefer alternating L/R for that reason.

The only downside with Smith-Kim 1-2 is that Kim might lead the league in GIDP.  I'd probably switch them for that reason.

I didn't write that well.  I would be just find with Kim at #1 and Smith at #2.  Main thing is, I want the two of them and their OBP's hitting in front of the mashers.

Yup, I don't disagree.  I guess my thing is, it's not a big deal to pinch hit Rickard and Mancini in the scenario.

I wouldn't bat Kim and Smith back to back. Too easy to match up with later in the game.

I'd drop Smith to sixth and slide everyone up one.

This is an excellent point. Having those two at the top just screams left-handed specialist matchup late in games. Buck has always preferred the L-R-L-R lineup combo as much as possible. I do think Kim or Smith should lead off and the other should be 6th.

Lineup VS RHP

Kim
Jones
Machado
Davis
Trumbo
Smith
Schoop
Castillo
Hardy

Lineup VS LHP

Rickard
Jones
Machado
Davis
Trumbo
Schoop
Castillo
Alvarez/Mancini
Hardy

But he also has a chance to come up with 2 out and 0 on in the first.  That is something that isn't possible if he bats fourth or fifth.

Trust me the math has been done.  As has been mentioned already it's in The Book.

BTW your 70% is flawed.

Yes. I have read that as well.

I'd rather have the best lineup for innings 1-7.  I'll worry about the 8-9th when it happens. No guarantee those spots in the order even come up.

I'd prefer not to help out teams that hand out roster spots to Cla Meredith, Clay Rapada, Brian Matusz, etc. and let them have an easier chance to get two outs in the sixth or seventh.  I'd rather them have to burn two pitchers.
