Orioles Have Made Small Pitching Moves Count

In the wake of another rough outing for the Orioles' pitching staff, there has been at least one positive development in that area:

In less than six months, Dan Duquette has acquired eight pitchers currently on the Baltimore Orioles' 40-man roster, and for the most part, they've done well.

Alec Asher, Richard Bleier, Miguel Castro, Vidal Nuno, Logan Verrett and Gabriel Ynoa have combined for a 2.92 ERA.

And that's in over 60 innings of pitching.

And, for the most part, we have rarely had more than two of those guys on the roster at the same time, and never more than 3.

So the idea that we can't DFA Ubaldo because we "don't have anyone to replace him" is kind of ludicrous.   At any given time, at least 3 of those 6 have been waiting their turn in Norfolk.   DFA'ing Ubaldo may take Asher out of the pen and create a hole there, but there are guys in line to fill it.
