Rotation of 2011

Arrieta, Tillman, and Matusz were indeed a part of the Orioles' starting rotation for a significant portion of the 2011 season.

They each started 22 games, 13 games, and 12 games respectively that season.

Not bad on the prediction.

Also ........

A) If I had a nickel for every time that I was wrong, I would be a multi-millionaire.

B) The general purpose of my bump was to congratulate Kurkjian on his assertion in regard to Tillman, not necessarily to undermine any of the thread posters' comments, although it is fun looking back at what we said (myself included) way back when in the present day.

With what they were running out there I thought it was foolish at least not to give him a couple this year.

Given that we had no lefty starter, I was all for giving Matusz another shot. If he hadn't gotten hurt in the spring, I think we might've stretched him (I believe we had the past few springs as well).

But since we weren't able to do so, I don't see how we could've started him. With him being out of options, I don't know if the max 20 day rehab stint would've been enough to get him to starter's length.

I wouldn't be surprised if he can be a 4/5 starter in the NL for the next few years. He's left handed and has a pulse, so that helps. I don't see any kind of Arrieta-esque revival for him but who knows? Maybe he finds that 2nd half of 2010 stuff again.

Pretty sure he had multiple inning starts in rehab.

Can he hit 90 mph? His control has been so spotty, it's hard to imagine him as anything but a lefty specialist.. I guess stranger things have happened, but I'm glad to see him off the roster. Not exactly the hardest worker on the team , either.
