Ramirez inherited a potential disaster in the 5th inning (runners on 1st and 2nd base with nobody out), and managed to get the team out of it unscathed.

After throwing 5 shutout innings today, he has an ERA under 3 (2.89) and a WHIP under 1 (0.964)

15 OUTS:   6 Groundouts, 3 Strikeout, 3 Flyouts, 2 Lineout (Including 1 Double Play)

Its gotten to the point that we accept the loss but were looking at individual performances going forward. Its the right philosophy of course, but it basically says we no longer care about winning on the field. We care more about the future makeup of the team.

The other possible headline was "Orioles Lose...Again...Aw Heck, Who Cares Anyway?", so I can see why he went with the two young righthanders.

I thought he was even better today. Good poise, throws strikes, great change up and deserved even better. If Davis makes the routine play we had a real chance to win this game. Ramirez looks promising, but so did Mike Wright in his first couple of starts....

Well, Buck says Davis gets a pass, Roy.

(vs. RANGERS, 7/14)   )

5 shutout innings, albeit needing 94 pitches to do so )(55 )Strikes, )39 )Balls.)

It won't go into the books as a "quality start", but it certainly constitutes an example of a starting pitcher giving his team a reasonable chance to win the game.

Quality starts are not a big deal for the starters on this team.  You have to pitch and give a run or less or you may loose.

Pitched well, but had a ton of deep counts.

I agree with Roy. I've attended two of his games at OP and seen his other appearances on TV.  He appears to be a confident pitcher who is not intimidated by the hitters.  Please don't keep sending him down. He is more impressive than some of our million dollar pitchers.
