You know when Buck only plays you 71 times in the outfield it has got to be pretty bad.

You have to remember that dWAR has a positional adjustment built in.    He’s getting a -11 positional adjustment, and from there was +3.    That translates into a negative dWAR but does not suggest he was a below average LF in 2014.    

And yes, Buck limited his time in LF.    They had Pearce who had a very good year defensively as well as offensively, and Lough who was a truly outstanding defender.    None of that detracts from the fact that Cruz was respectable for us in 2014.     And believe me, I was very skeptical about his defense coming into that season, and like you, I’ve never forgotten that terrible WS play he made.

Nothing so notable as his Merkle level error in the WS but yea, not good at all.

He was awful But he did have a hose. Cost Texas a crown and then busted for roids. Texas is not his fan base.
