That 96 team could mash.  It should have been our year.

'97 was their year. Best record in the AL, wire-to-wire... and they pooed their pants (and caught some weird luck) against an 86-win Indians team in the ALCS. Them's the breaks.

That shouldn't matter though. He is with the O's now.

It's kind of semantics. Are we saying the O's are "fielding a lineup where everyone has 20+ homers" or "the O's have had guys hit 20+ homers at every position?" Because one statement is more accurate than the other.

Unless someone gets red hot, we'll fall short of either one.

More impressive are the OPS's in the everyday lineup. Everyone is mostly over an .800 OPS. If only we had some SP this year.

In sheer power, the O's are still lingering. Tied for 3rd (185) in team homers. Chasing Texas and Houston (195, both). O's have finished Top 3 in the league every year since 2012. OPS... not as much.

Who then proceeded to go full cleveland against Miami.

Skip to around the 37 minute mark for that specific ONLY IN CLEVELAND moment.

On the other end of the spectrum, the 1974 team won the AL East title and did not have a single player with 20 or more home runs.

Bobby Grich had 19, Paul Blair had 17, and Earl Williams had 14.

The 1973 team (also AL East Champions) only had 1 player with 20 or more home runs (Earl Williams had 22), while the team led the American League in Stolen Bases (146.)

If Castillo gets hot and gets to 20 HR somehow the Orioles can field an entire lineup with 20 or more home runs. I don't ever remember a team doing that. Has it been done before?

(SEPTEMBER 15th)

Castillo just hit his 20th home run of the season, against the Yankees.

He is the 7th player on the team to have reached that plateau in 2017.
