Adding to the night, Ryan Mountcastle had his best night in AA! Everyone who doesn't already should be checking out the minor league forum, the content, knowledge & insights there are never ending. Not everyone posts a lot but these guys answer questions about everyone & everything. Signing up to the OH should be mandatory for all fans, supporting the place that provides all of this makes the entirety of the Orioles community a better one.

I think Buck has been too slow with the hook for Bundy all year. From pitch 101 onward (prior to tonight), batters are hitting .381 with a .409 OBP and .762 SLG in 22 plate appearances. It was a 4-0 game and the pen wasn't gassed. He didn't need to be out there.

The kid was mowing down everyone. I doubt the 10 or so extra pitches he threw will make much of a difference.

Bringing in a recently shaky bullpen though could have opened the door for a comeback.

Nothing wrong with letting the kid be his own closer.

All of this.

Yep, it definitely worked out, I don't think there will be any long-term impact either of throwing 10-15 extra pitches. Just saying what I would have done and why Law's opinion was valid. Not sure about classifying the bullpen as recently shaky though. I think the pen can handle a 4-0 lead.

A few years ago I realized that my favorite part of watching my team was seeing them happy. Watching the pies in the face, the Terps singing their fight song after a win, the players wearing the uniform that you have a connection to, showing excitement to be on that team, creates a connection that feels more personal - more than the strike outs, I love seeing the pies and the joy in the guys representing our home town.

Dude, absolutely.  As crazy as it sounds, I care about these guys like my family lol.

I am amazed at the number of people who see not only potential in this team, but in the future. Guys this is the same team many of you left for dead 20 days ago.

That said. I concur. Welcome aboard!!!!  The future is bright and regardless of how 2017 ends there is some serious work to be done. It's a good problem to have.

Manny Jonathan Dylan and Kevin are a strong core. AJ is a first rate leader and arguably the best CF in Oriole history.  Trey Mancini has had a brilliant rookie campaign. Miguel Castro looks tremendous and looks like he has upside. The Orioles have a pile of Money coming off the books. And there are actually real baseball players in our minor leagues that may help in the future. Oh and another thing. For those who hope Beef leaves because he can't call games?  He just caught the best Oriole game in 15 years. He is also one of our better hitters. He will opt out.

There is a lot of work to do in Baltimore but the Orioles are being ably run by a manager and GM who succeed in spite of all of the dysfunction and all of the limitations that this franchise has on it. It's an absolute joy to be this tied to games as we roll in to Sept. I couldn't be happier. Well that's not true. Of course I could. My point to all who fret over who we could have or might have had if only this or that are looking behind themselves and are missing the best run of Oriole baseball in 30 plus years. Parker will never look as good as what you saw last night.  Ariel won't either.  And Jake never was gonna win here.  Be happy they got to a place where the found success.

In the process, you are missing the actual occurrence of something happening after failing to do so for so long it was literally generational darkness. The development of an ACE. A pitcher many have begged to trade while there was still value. While lamenting the "good" pitching we gave up for "nothing" and bemoaning the pitching we kept. This organization ain't perfect. But it's ours and it's gutty and I love it!

Last night reminded me that if we get there anything is possible. There is a long way to go...but imagine what it could be!

Agree. I know some people scoff at the "team chemistry" thing, but I don't. The 2012 and 2014 teams had the best chemistry and looked like they were having the most fun. Those are the teams that went the farthest. Coincidence, perhaps, but it certainly didn't hurt.

MLB must use Tango's formula, which gives Bundy a score of 100 (if my mental math is right).

Using the old system, which BB-ref uses, Bundy's game score last night was 95.    Bedard's 2007 game was a 98.   Hammel's 2012 one-hitter was a 91.     So, I think it's fair to say Bundy's game last night was the best-pitched game by an Oriole in 10 years.

Law questioned sending him out in the 9th with a four run lead. I question it too. They are managing his innings and giving him extra rest, why have him throw his career high number of pitches?

Why not? It worked.

    • ???. Cowser took more swings against LF than any other LH hitter on the team ( not named  Henderson). He was one of the guys they did not platoon.
    • I think Kevin Seiyltzer was the fall guy for a team that thought they were a championship team.  This guy has overseen more a decade of hitting in Atlanta, has been through developing and helping young batters succeed when the league adjusts.  Most importantly, he has a ring!
    • Glad one poseur AL team is out.  I hope CLE wins and knocks the other one out tomorrow.
    • I honestly think there is very little difference in most the teams that made the playoffs.  The most wins was 98 wins and there was 12 teams with 86 wins or more.  It also seems that many of the teams are on the same page with scouting and analytics now hitting wise.  Years back you had moneyball which the A’s used before anyone else.  Then the Astros and few teams started with analytics and seemed to be ahead of the rest of the league but they have caught up now imo.  Now the move seems to be on launch angle and hitting homers by getting the ball in the air but that seems to be across the league.  Obviously some teams have more money and more talented players but the strategy seems about the same.  The main differences I see is in pitching in the playoffs which is bullpen games and using openers rather then a starter to go 7 innings and carry your team to win now a slight sign of trouble they are taking them out.  With all these short inning guys and pitching them in certain pockets we are seeing very little offense and the hitting with runners in scoring position has been awful.  It all comes down to RISP at bats and getting 1 or 2 big base hits in those situations.  We just haven’t been able to get those hits so far in short series.
    • And we've seen similar with Kjerstad. Kjerstad might be the best pure hitting prospect in the Orioles system of recent years besides Gunnar. I want to see him playing everyday next year is possible none of this sitting him versus LHP more often than not. These prospects need to get their reps and stop treating them like John Lowenstein and Benny Ayala.
    • I don’t see Elias trading off prospects anymore at least top guys.  We have moved a few guys in last year and I expect they try to build that back up.  They should have money to use if they want to add talent.
    • Blah, well Rob Manfred has to be happy along with Fox network. A Yankees-Mets World Series match up is still on the table and the Dodgers as well if they win tomorrow. I knew the Royals would get jettisoned by the Yankees without too much of a fight.
