I love Trey and I have no doubt that he is doing his absolute best with his skill set.  But he is not an outfielder.

I dont think Cruz was as bad as his rep, and by far from the worse, we have had out there. IMO

Cruz lost a World Series with his defense. And he was very poor here.

Cruz was a dWar of .8 while here.

Trey is a dWar of -1.2.

Delmon was a -.9 and .1 while here.

Trumbo was a -2.1 and -1.6 his two previous seasons.

You are right, that's who I was thinking of as bad out there. Cruz was sneaky decent out there.

Yeah, while Mancini is a far better corner OFer than Trumbo, he makes Cruz look like a Gold Glover. He catches what he gets to, but his agility and instincts are poor.

You could be right.

Personally, I think its lack of experience having to learn a totally new and much different position.  Lots of 1B can play COF, but most of them did it, playing college and into the minors.

I can not fathom why they didnt do any COF teaching and OJT down in AAA.

I think we're both right.  Probably part of the reason for his poor instincts is his lack of experience.

You know I don't give credit to those d stats. I loved Cruz. He is a DH. And a PED abuser.
