The other way to build a 1st place team

Elias and Stearns both learned from Jeff Luhnow GM of the Astros.  Stearns approach to building the Brewers has been much different than Luhnow.  Luhnow was tear it completely down and build throw the draft supplemented by trades,  waiver claims and free agents.   Because Stearns rebuild has been so faster most of his high draft picks are still in the minors.  He has built mainly through free agents, waiver claims, and trades.

Which way will Elias go?

Milwaukee Brewers - In 2015 the Brewers finished in 4th place with a record of 64-98.  David Stearns was the Assistant GM for the Houston Astro from 2013-2015. I suppose we should all pity David Stearns.  It's clear he never seriously played fantasy baseball, otherwise he would know there is only one way to build a competetive team and that's with dynamite and a lot of patience.  Why the next thing you know, people might get the idea that it can be done without at least two successive 1-1 draft picks.  The horror.  Think of the children, David!

I didn't have the time to read all of what you posted. So I can't say which way ME will go. But I do believe he is breath of fresh air and will do the things needed to turn this organization around.

I get so tired of that excuse. Even if they play in the NL central  it's still Major League Baseball. Some fans act like the AL East is where the gods play or the Angels play and everyone else is piss poor junior leaguers.

No, not even.

What am I missing? They sure seem to be trending in that direction. I also think that, right now the Brewers, Pirates, and Reds are probably collectively a little better than the Rays, Jays, and Orioles.

Last 4 years (wins)

Cubs - 95, 92, 103, 97 (avg 96.75 wins per year)

Cards - 88, 83, 86, 100 (avg 89.25 wins per year)

Yanks - 100, 91, 84, 87 (avg 90.5 wins per year)

Red Sox - 108, 93, 93, 78 (avg 93 wins per year)

I'm not clear on your point.  Is it that because the AL East has the Yankees and Red Sox there is necessarily one and only one way for the Orioles to run an organization?

In the NL the pitcher hits.

Rays are as good as the Cubs or the Cards. I believe the Cubs are now over. Besides, the New York Boston thing is totally grueling for any team in the division.
