What about trading Ramon Hernandez for silly cash considerations? Take the contract, and pay the O's 10 million more.

Use the rich teams like ATM machines. That's a Billy Beane move.

This might be the best thing I heard on this post. Mot sure what type of "cash" we would get for him though. Heck then use that money to over pay Tex.

Per Rotoworld

The Yankees are reportedly looking at Gerald Laird, Paul Lo Duca, Miguel Olivo and Rod Barajas as they seek to strengthen their catching corps.

Laird is expected back on Monday, so he'll have only a short time to show that he's fully recovered from a hamstring injury before the deadline. He could be rather expensive anyway if all the Yankees want is a backup to Jose Molina. Lo Duca and Olivo would both come cheaper. Barajas' price is tougher to gauge. The Jays would likely prefer to deal Gregg Zaun.

You would think Hernandez would be in the mix, but he's just completely regressed since the 2006 season...

I heard on WNST that there are some rumors of a Hernandez - Hughes swap. Is there any way we get Hughes in return - I know he has been Horrible in the Big leagues but are the Yankees that desperate???
There are no rumors of that type of swap. At least not any that were started by anybody with anything to do with the Orioles or Yankees.

A Hughes for Hernandez trade is about 1000 times less likely than a Rasmus for Sherrill trade. And a Rasmus for Sherrill trade is damn near impossible.

You've got it backwards.

The O's will need to pay some of Ramon's remainding salary to get any team to take him, and then take back whatever crappy 28 y/o guy in the GCL the team feels like giving up.

It appears they want a backup, not a starter. And honestly Ramon doesn't provide an upgrade over Molina since Molina is excellent behind the plate.
