I just know that somewhere, in some corner of the internet today, I'll find a casual, out of touch O's fan complaining about the loss and how bad they looked.  And I'll have to break the news to that poor soul that this is going to happen somewhere between 90 and 115 more times this season.  I might crush that poor guy's spirit, but it's almost always better to know the truth.

My first opening day was in 1965 when I was 7 years old...I had never seen such a huge place as Memorial Stadium and grass could not be so green. 

Wins and losses come and go, but as James Earl Jones said,  “Baseball marks the time.” 

Happy Opening Day.   It was 150 years ago this year in 1869 that the first all professional team was formed in Cincinnati.  

In 1908, this Tin Pan Alley tune written in a quick afternoon became a sensation...here is my favorite version by my good friend and one of the world’s best luthiers and flat pickers, Wayne Henderson.
