The Yankees are stacking the Thunder with major league pitchers on rehab assignments.    Jordan Montgomery starting tonight, with Betances and Tarpley in relief.    Luis Severino tomorrow. Sabathia and Stanton possibly joining later.    At least the rehabbing pitchers have to use the major league balls.    

Isn't it a good thing for our young players like Diaz and McKenna to go up against good major league pitching in a meaningful game environment? I would much rather see them go up against the likes of Montgomery, Betances, and Severino than some 25 year old organizational guys who will likely only get a cup of coffee in the big leagues at best.

Good start tonight, knocked Severino out after 3 and 2/3rds. Baysox up 5-1 through 5 and a half.

Sedlock through 5 innings has allowed 1 run on 4 hits, no walks and 2 strikeouts over 83 pitches. Sedlock is finished and Tayler Scott is out to pitch the bottom of the 6th.

Mullins 2-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

Diaz 2-3 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored.

McKenna 1-2 with a triple and a run scored.

Nichting 2-2 with a double and a run scored

Through 7, Baysox still up 5-1. Klimek and Alvarado are both rested in the bullpen.

All those XBH, and one other double from Feliz aside, off Severino.  Can't call doubles and triples BABIP - that's a discouraging night as Yankees assess if they want Severino as part of their October mix.

A strikeout an an RBI single. Two on, two out, Baysox up 7-2 and the Baysox bring on Klimek to get the final out. Alvarado threw 26 pitches.
