What is Frederick going to do with 21 pitchers?

It would seem pretty obvious to me that there won’t be 21 pitchers at Frederick. I don’t know where that number comes from but the roster is far smaller than that.

Please read the OP.   They are all named there.  And, of course there will not be 21 pitchers on the Keys to open the season.   But the O's are going to have to figure what to do this them.

And they have until the first game of the MiLB season to figure it out. Some guys will be hurt, some released, some retire. Worrying about 21 pitchers on a minor league roster right now, when no roster is set at all (Norfolk has, what, 10 players on it?) is an exercise in futility, especially at lower levels.

I don't think its something to worry about.  But I think its worth noting.

I read OP, but you just named 21 random pitchers.

Theres only 14 pitchers at Frederick. So again, I don’t know where this 21 number came from.

1) Pitchers that were in Frederick last season but did not do well enough to be promoted.

2) Pitchers that were in Delmarva last season that deserve a promotion.

3) Pitchers that were acquired this off season that are likely to start the season in Frederick

What about pitchers that did well enough for a promotion? Pitchers that aren’t going to be with the club?

They will be with the Baysox.   Here is who I have at Bowie

McCoy SS

Yahn 3B

Jarrett LF

Ripken 1B

Billingsley  CF

Clare SS

Valentin  3B

McKenna CF

Nichting RF

Palmiero 2B

Cervenka  C

Canelo SS

Mora SS

Reyes 3B

Santiago 2B

Starters

DL Hall

Sedlock

Relievers

Perez

Bruke

Brian Gonzalez

Klimek

Love

Kipper

Luis Gonzalez

Diplan

Some of the pitchers that don't make the AAA staff will be sent to Bowie.

I haven't looked at it as much as in past years but you only list two current starters at Bowie which increases the chances of pitchers like Bradish, Hanifee, and Bishop getting bumped up there.

You are probably right.   Or since the AAA rotation is full maybe the minor league AAAA pitchers that Elias brings in will be in the Bowie rotation for depth and be on the Bowie to Baltimore shuttle until the O's prospects of ready.

Here's my thoughts as of right now. Obviously who is brought in on a MiLB deal will affect things. If Akin makes the big club, which is a real possibility, then move Ortiz to AAA. Lots of piggybacking at the low levels and 6 man rotations. If they'd prefer 5 man rotations in the upper minors, then you could piggyback more.

Norfolk   Bowie   Frederick   Delmarva
Akin   Hall   Rodriguez   Conroy
Kremer   Bradish   Fenter Wilson Peek
Zimmermann   Sedlock   Rom   McLarty
Lowther   Hanifee Peralta Knight Vespi Hammer Roth
Baumann   Ortiz   Leo Rod   Gillispie Lucas
Wells   Lebron Bishop Stauffer Magee Litscher Zebron(maybe)

Prizina, Elliot, Farmer, Lyons, Hammonds, and Guance as fill in types for Frederick/Delmarva

Herb and whatever MiLB FAs as fill in types for Bowie/Norfolk

Interesting.  Why would Magee skip Delmarva and Frederick?  That doesn't sound like Elias to me.

My mistake on Magee, I meant Frederick, not Bowie. And why skip Delmarva? Because he's going to be 24, he was dominant in A-, and he isn't much of a prospect.

JMO but I think Elias is more likely to have Magee begin the season at Delmarva and move him up fast if he does well.   After that if he does well at Frederick he could finish the season at Bowie.

I think Elias likes a prospect to hit all the levels and he is willing to move guys up in season if they are   doing well.

Pretty sure worrying about having 21 pitchers in A+ in December is on the list of "we need more things to talk about."

I remember listening to Philly sports talk once before NFL training camp. There was a spirited debate over who was the Eagles 3rd fullback.

These things have a way of working themselves out.
