I doubt that.

I see him being similar to Akin. Not invited to camp, maybe brought over a few times, and spend the whole season in Norfolk with a shot at competing for a spot next season.

I like Williams all-around game better than Smith Jr. though Smith Jr. may be the better pure hitter. Williams' defensive versatility and speed makes him a better extra outfielder than Smith Jr. in my opinion.

4.62 ERA last year in a 4.90 league environment, still a crazy high WHIP.

He was on the 40-man roster until 3 weeks ago, so they must see something in him.
