Seattle used Leblanc following a RH opener.

So Rucker, Hess, Bailey, etc..., would go the first 1-2 IP then Leblanc would come in. Oddly enough Leblanc had reverse splits last year.

We’ll see what happens. Good value on a milb deal. He can definitely eat innings.

I really like Hess as an opener now that you mention it....

Not sure I understand this signing. He's a soft tossing 35-year old lefty who was in the bottom 10% of the league in xBA and xSLG. Similiar to Means, his best pitch is a changeup and last year he went to a cutter over his sinker more times than not. The cutter got hit pretty hard, but so did his sinker so maybe they will scrap both and have him go to a pure four seamer which had a little bit of success last year when up in the zone, even though it has low spin rate.

Either way, I realize there is not a lot of good competition for starter innings, but not sure where the upside is here because the chance of a soft tossing lefty who had a penchant of giving up home runs is going to regain any kind of trade value by the trading deadline is slim.

Guess best case scenario he's able to eat some inning and somehow get on a run that we can move him for a Cashner like return.

Innings. Innings. Innings. :) Hit the nail on the head. ME and everyone else knows this year is a waste for the ML club. Elias and Hyde had a hard time last year just filling innings every day just to get thru the season.

Roch posted an "update" just that the O's are still in the market for a starter. ... No crap Sherlock! ?

Anyways, LeBlanc is just another (left handed) body in the innings pool. Minor league, I like the signing.

If we're going to sign someone from the cast of Friends, I'd just as soon it be Jennifer Aniston.

No argument here, but LeBlanc was very good in the rebooted Top Gear.  Surprisingly good.

As for Wade LeBlanc it's only a matter of time until someone says it, so I'll just get it out of the way... Maybe he's the next Jamie Moyer,  All mediocre lefties with 88 mph fastballs have a 0.001% chance of miraculously having a near-HOF career that lasts into their late 40s.

    • I agree with this. The unfortunate part of that is it typically takes leaving to figure that part out. Most of us lack that ability to “recognize what we have” and resist the other.   With all that being said, I’m not sure that concept necessarily applies here. He could certainly move on, get the bag, and land in a place with good people and good opportunity.
    • It’s more than just not being Angelos.    People see the resources this group has relative to the Angelos family.  The stage of life many in the group are in. There’s a lot of people around the city with connections to the ownership group and you hear a very consistent theme of what the group is looking to do.
    • Imagine the shame of that player, always having an asteroid attached to his achievement in the history books.
    • Can we implement some sort of paragraph policy around here?
    • I'll be honest, wasn't on my radar until this post. I went back and watched his outing and all of your observations are right on in my opinion. Lots of swing and miss and definitely not a195 pounds lol. Has had command problem in past but not this outing.  I'll see what I an dig up about him but would be nice to have velo.
    • He's top ten for me easy. The real question is whether he's the team's best pitching prospect or not? Povich has it right now due to his success in AAA, but nobody brings the stuff that DeLeon brings consistently in the system. He's a taller Cionel Perez with a changeup.
    • Ha, I know you love your boy!   He is improving but while he's "versatile" in that he has experience at a lot of positions, he's not really good at any of them. He reminds me a bit of Rick Short but shorty was a better hitter overall albeit with a little less power than Cook. I still think he's an org guy but he may at some point work his way into a major league bench one day. There are worse guys who played in the majors for sure.
