9. They have the option to play an extra one, but Girardi motioned to the umpire before the bottom of the 9th that this was it.

I stand corrected, all three games with ties so far this spring have ended after 9 innings. Some solid Spring Training defense today.

Strange play at the end.

Ball is hit back and hit Kremer, who flipped it to Taylor Davis at first but was too high. Davis threw to 3rd to try and back pick the runner, but the ball got away from Rondon, who lost his glove and was holding his arm afterwards. Winning run scores.

Saw that on the replay. Hopes he's ok.

Never heard that one. Because a sac fly scores you if there's 1 out?

Right. Too many ways to score from third with one out,  some of which --sacfly, deep ground ball, squeeze play--aren't available after the second out.

The play in today's game would be covered by a different rule as well: Don't create outs on the bases when the runner can be put out by more than 15 feet.

Yes, or other productive outs plus having 2 shots at a hit instead of one.  You really need to be confident the guy will score before you send him in that situation.  In this case, it would have taken a really bad throw for him  to have any chance at scoring.  Bad decision all the way around.

LFer could have airmailed the catcher, bounced off the bricks and STILL got him at the plate. ?

ST for the coaches too.
