We haven't seen the intl signing blow up as a huge prospect yet but it is coming soon.  There are several pitchers and hitters that are described as high end potential.  I can't see 1 or 2 of these not blossoming into that.  Especially since most of these are 16-18 yrs old at signing.  Maybe I am just being very hopeful but I do like what i've read and the few videos i've seen of some of these kids.

The exception to this might be the player in the Castro trade. The additional player or cash might be determined by how Castro performs. I don’t know what the Orioles would by looking for a modest amount of cash in these deals.

Could even be international slots, who knows.

I could see an international player option or pool money.

Do we know if leagues (DR, Venezuela, Mexico) are playing?  Maybe scouts are in place to evaluate a few players and ME can choose slots or from a small player list.  I don't really see anything on those leagues and I don't know if MLB has authority to control baseball being played in other countries.

I'm honestly not satisfied with this ranking. By the time this tank-rebuild is ready to move forward, I expect that the system should be ranked top 3. Stack the deck on the farm so heavily that you can't miss no matter what. Otherwise you put the fans through a half decade of crap baseball for nothing.

I'm still on board with the strategy and I'm not saying that they're behind-schedule... but the farm system has a ways to go still before I'm happy..

I say this without having looked at other teams' systems so maybe I'm totally wrong but...

It seems to me like it would be impossible to have a Top 3 system without significant international presence.  Which the Orioles are of course just now trying to get into under Elias.  So it would take quite a few years for that presence to make an impact and get to those levels.

I don't, and didn't imply that I did.  I just don't think he should be getting sole credit for the ranking as the post I was responding to implied.

I mean, the very top end were here but the main reason for being where we are is because of the depth of it. Most of that has been brought in via Elias, including some of the IFAs that are getting ready/already sprinkled in to that top 30.

Our farm system hasn't been this filled with solid 40-45 guys in a long, long time.

Not to mention it could be argued Elias got more for relievers/meh pieces this deadline than Duquette got for School, Machado, etc. Which is pure insanity.

This is clearly a much better run team that has a deep farm system due to the guy currently here which speaks volumes considering how short his tenure has been already. We'll see if these guys work out/it continues, but we wouldn't be close to top 10 with the past regime these past couple years as far as farm ranking. Fairly confident in that

If Diaz isn't the prospect now that he was when Dan traded for him who does that fall on?  Dan or Mike?

How did Elias get more for relievers and Meh pieces?

So he’s in the organization....the problem with the Orioles system as they can’t develop talent.

That statement assumes that the opposite of the problem would be that they CAN develop talent.  And if they COULD develop talent, they'd be in the top 5 every year and graduating guys to the majors with no problems.

@Can_of_cornI have no idea what that picture means you weirdo.

    • It’s called venting, montezuma’s revenge-o.
    • It did look like they already have their game legs back--maybe in time to make that dream come true. I live in Brooklyn and it's going to be a challenge to hold my place and my lip in the sports bars over the next three days (unless I go to one filled with Mets fans who are just letting one screen tune into the game in the Bronx).
    • Haha, yeah--Try to "Mooo!" that and see what happens.
    • Adley was 2022, not sure if Gunnar was 2022 or 2023, I think he was also 2022.
    • Oh, I thought you were taking about his hitting in high leverage situations.
    • Frustrating sure, but boring is not what I would I say. We do steal bases at times. I would like for us to play more small ball sometimes and it is frustrating to see us be so homerun happy. I think with Westy back, we will see a resurgence of timely hitting as that is very contagious.   We saw that at the beginning of the year. Amazing sight to see for sure. I think the most disheartening thing that really shocked me is the apathy and outright disgust I’ve seen from O’s fans toward their team. Perhaps we have been spoiled? No idea. Maybe expectations were too high? No idea, but frankly, a lot of yall focusing on other things and simply not watching/posting would make next season a lot more enjoyable. This is the first time since 96-97 where we make the playoffs in back to back years and you guys have been acting like some real lame jerks this whole dang season. Frankly, yall should be ashamed of yourselves. We are an incredibly young team and with that come highs and lows, but yall don’t see that. You just love to complain and moan and bloviate. Where’s the heart? Where’s the loyalty? Where’s the gratitude? You’d think with all this team has overcome, especially being so young, y’all would be happy, but no. So go off on your little bike rides or whatever. Go watch a movie if this saga seems boring to you. I don’t care. Just for once this season, keep your immense negativity to yourself.
    • Really an amazing run, 4 straight years. I completely agree with the ranking, too. There's no way Kjerstad is still a prospect though, right? 45 days is the cutoff and he's played in 48 games.
