Signing Machado instead of Davis wouldn't have prevented the team's collapse.  Machado would have been traded, probably for even less than he was in this timeline.

I don't know...giving that money to Machado instead of Davis wouldn't have prevented the collapse but it would have made these teams a bit easier to watch.  Maybe they would have traded him though anyway, who knows.

Sure.  Giving the money to TradeAngelos instead of Davis would have made the team a bit easier to watch.

Just imagine... if he hits 50 points higher he could be in the reckoning for "comeback player of the year"

That would mean he'd be hitting above the mendoza line at around .215

Something to shoot for.

Oriole players are already going to finish first, second and third in the comeback player of the year voting.  Davis will have to do better than a 50 point increase to have a chance.

Hyde is planning on playing Davis as much as possible in ST.

OMFG one of these guys asked if Davis might see time at third.  Really?  They get paid for this?

1) It's only been seven years since Davis fielded .886 at third. I think it's possible he could still field .750 there.  Three fourths isn't half bad.

2) In 2017 he played ten innings at third without making an error. Extrapolating that over 162 games gives him a 1.000 fielding percentage. Has Manny or Brooks every done that?  Are you completely discounting his 2017 performance, and the idea that he might be the best fielding third baseman ever?

Plenty of reason to be snarky..we have heard the same bs out of him for several years and he has shown a total unwillingness to change.

Now, he claims he is changing now..we’ll see.  I will believe it when I see it.

So you wouldn't be snarky if he said he didn't change anything because that's what got him to the show?

I just don't see an alternative thing he could have done / said here that would have changed anyone's opinion. There's no real new information here worth holding against him is my point.

No, then I would have called him out for not trying.

I’m good.  I see zero reason to respect what he says or give him the benefit of the doubt.  It’s up to him to earn those things.

My belief is that it doesn’t matter whether he changes things or not. He simply doesn’t have the bat speed or level of ability that he had six years ago.   He’s toast and no conditioning program, weight gain or loss, or swing change is going to render him a competent major league hitter.

I will admit to a bit of morbid curiosity each year with Davis. It's honestly impressive how long he will take a beating of his own volition. I still like the guy, honestly, and it's fun when he runs into a dinger.

I'm curious about the changes, and doubtful they will have any impact. But it's something new to look for.

Honestly though I really think he's just going to have more knee problems.
