2012 made the playoffs...

I know.

I was a fan for both runs.

As nifty as 2012 was it didn't have the magic of the 1989 season.

The 2011 team was a bit of a disappointment, folks expected a more competitive team after the strong finish in 2010.

The 1989 team was coming off of 0-21 and it was just completely out of nowhere.

I too was a fan of both and am aware. But on the surface, I just figured you’d wanna work up to the playoff team. Regardless of to circumstances. ??‍♂️

And if you really want to look deeper into it... the 89 team was fun but that Orioles team didn’t get back to the playoffs until 96.  The 2012 team made it back in 2014 and was one of the most enjoyable teams we be seen in 30 years. And then, of course, again in 16.

Eh.

That showdown in Toronto was a bigger deal to me than a WC game.  Win the division or go home...real stakes.

The WC game was also win or go home...

And after 16 years of losing which hurts every Oriole fan who lived through it. Think 16 straight years of losing trumps one season of 0-21 start... especially when you won a WS 5 years prior.

Barnaby, I beg your forgiveness. I have been working for hours without rest. Please forgive me for my misguided post. The Orioles WILL run the table in 2021-2027 and the ensuring period of greatness shall be known forthwith as the Orioles era of greatness as foretold by Barnaby Graves.

Probably, the ensuing era of Orioles greatness will be called the "Barnaby Graves Era."

I don’t remember what I guessed, although I’m sure it is a matter of record, but I definitely guessed wrong

I see you in the 71-75 option.  So yeah, you missed.  Haha.  So did pretty much everyone else though (I was 61-65).

Looking back at my guess (61-65), I thought the pitching would be considerably better.   Honestly, I thought the offense would be better, too.   But I thought we’d get decent production from Akin, Kremer and some of our bullpen guys.   I was wrong.

I’m sure that in some, much more pleasant universe, I was also wrong, but on the low side, and in reality we are blasting through the division in the league on our way to yet another World Series championship.

I think I would like that universe…

I became quite fond of that Roman commercial that shows the pitcher giving up the home run. I think it is a brilliantly done commercial, although I am not the least bit interested in the product… Just saying… But the point is quite valid. What matters is what comes next. We need to evaluate these guys and we can’t give up on any of them yet.
