1.  Our offense is bad.

2.  Our offense is not this bad.

3.   The change in the ball may reduce scoring around the league this year.

4.  Early season games are usually low scoring.

5.   It’s a long season, and there will be ups and downs.   We have started slow offensively but will have better periods.

It is a long season but it doesn’t stop people from panicking over 20 at bats!

Oriole Park @ Camden Yards llhas been in existence since April of 1992.

I got this tidbit from the Orioles fan page on Facebook ...... perhaps sometime later in this decade, a couple of our current Baby Birds will insert their names onto this list.

May be an image of 1 person, playing a sport, stadium and text that says 'MOST CAREER HOME RUNS ORIOLE PARK 146 ADAM JONES 142 CHRIS DAVIS Retro 124 RAFAEL PALMEIRO Baseball 100 MANNY MACHADO 91 BRADY ANDERSON 89 MELVIN MORA 85 CAL RIPKEN JR. 82 NICK MARKAKIS 73 MIGUEL TEJADA 71 CHRIS HOILES holos'

To me Ramon Urias' at bat against Diekman in the 9th inning summarized the O's biggest problem:  lack of plate discipline.  Diekman didn't throw a single strike (including the one the umpire called) and yet he struck Urias out on four pitches.   Aside from DJ Stewart, the O's have nobody who has any command of the strike zone.

Why does it feel like plate discipline has been a problem for the O’s since the turn of the century?

The offense made this team fun to watch last year. We knew the SP was going to struggle, but it seemed like we could put up big numbers against most non Aces. The bad ABs are seemingly contagious.

The most frustrating part is that minus a few guys like AR, Diaz, and some role players, that this is the core of our offense for the beginning of our next “window”.

Hays and Santander have been hurt, but they’re always hurt. We need Mountcastle to get going and Severino to get back to his previous offensive numbers with us.

Really, the offense got off to a great start last year but was mediocre to bad after the first 20 games:

First 20: .797 OPS, 5.35 runs/game

Second 20: .737 OPS, 4.25 runs/game

Third 20: .715 OPS, 4.10 runs/game

Hopefully, the first 19 games of this season are no more indicative of how the rest of the season will go than last year’s first 20 (but in the opposite direction).

Idk. John Daly as hitting instructor?

I mean even when they were good (2012 - 2016) the O’s plate approach was “aggressive”, which is just spin for swinging at everything. We haven’t had a great offense in a really long time.
