Jay Bruce calls it quits

Retired after batting .118 in 34 PA this year.    https://blogs.fangraphs.com/jay-bruce-decides-to-retire-hangs-out-for-three-more-games/

I remember when we were trading Bedard, we asked the Reds for Bruce and he was considered untouchable.    On the other hand, Joey Votto, Johnny Cueto and Josh Hamilton were all considered available.   That goes to show just how highly Bruce was regarded at the time.  (Hamilton was traded to the Rangers that winter for Edinson Volquez and Danny Herrera, a couple of months before Bedard finally got traded.)

@DrungoHazewood I thought we weren't supposed to believe what happens in April?  ;)

Someone go and tell Bruce quickly before he makes a huge mistake and forfeits...… one million dollars?

Eh, whatever.

Stats.  Don't believe stats.  But if you go up to the plate on April 14th and feel a little dead inside, maybe it's time to go.

One of my favorite players retired on 5/28 after a "miserable" start..which by todays standards he would bat 5th for the Orioles.
