I would feel better about an underslot pick if it were a pitcher.  The O's haven't invested enough draft capital in pitching lately and that needs to change this year.  Cowser sounds similar to Hjerstad.

The underslot pitcher IMO is Sam Bachman if the O's go that route.

There is a lot of heat on the fastball and slider. The mechanics are violent, the finish is poor and he falls off significantly, and he is inverted in the back side. He is 6'-01" 235 or so. I hope he is not the pick. Good stuff, but his profile screams surgery, and reliever, to me. Maybe a contender takes him and slots him into their pen sooner than later. 

Now, Michael McGreevy out of UC Santa Barbara, him I could see. He is 6'-04" 200 and sits 91-93, touches 96, with good sink and finish. A good above average four pitch mix. A strike thrower. Comparisons to Shane Bieber in college.

I thought Elias was all over House?  I wouldn’t be surprised to see us take Davis if he’s there. That’s just too much value to pass up. Plus taking Davis falls in line to what Elias’ college bat preference. 
 

Teams do weird things in the draft, see us with Kjerstad. Every draft pundit wanted us to take Liberatore over Grayson a few years ago.

K's still a little too high, 50 in 156 AB's.

The thing I really miss about JJ was his ability to tag out base-runners.  Nobody had better hands - in making the catch and applying the tag.  And it's a big deal, because I see our infielders bobble throws and blindly try sweeping tags that are hit or miss attempts rather than fundamentally sound movements.  Plays that he would routinely make, they don't come close enough to even make the attempt.  It'd also be nice to have a good strong arm at SS.

He passed that tagging skill along to Schoop and Manny too.   All three were excellent taggers, and I think Schoop’s size intimidated a lot of runners when he straddled the bag.

Schoop didn't have a lot of range at 2B, but nobody stands in there on double plays like he does, and so far - I've never seen anyone willing to run into him.

Davis is reportedly the  best college bat but his glove at catcher is questionable according to reports.  Great arm but poor glove.   He is slow so that will not play in the outfield.   That makes him a backup catcher/DH/ possible 1B.   That is not what I want the O's drafting with the #5 pick.

I wouldn’t mind any of the SS.  Rocker would be intriguing.  House. Underslots like Bachman, Cowser, Finkle, Einhorn.
