I certainly wouldn’t have expected him to start in AA. The placement at Delmarva was conservative, but not unprecedented, and they did move him to A+ relatively quickly. When I say not unprecedented, 2020’s no. 27 pick and college bat 1B Aaron Sabato started the year in low A, hasn’t performed that well and is still there. No. 37 pick, college SS Alika Williams started at low A and is still there. I do see some other college bats drafted in the vicinity of Westburg who started in Hi A, some of whom raked there and have been promoted to AA (no. 20 pick OF Garrett Mitchell, no. 38 pick C Dillon Dingler, no. 43 pick OF Zach DeLoach) some of whom didn’t (no. 32 pick Nick Loftin). NCRaven
Westburg has been promoted twice this season. I think this entire issue is much ado about nothing. Where he ends up is more important than when he got to any particular level.

Enough with the negative waves. Be happy for five frickin' minutes. It's true. If the Orioles won a World Series in 5 games he'd be upset that they didn't do it in 4.

Really. SG in 2025, "We would have swept them if Rutschman had been promoted to the bigs in 2021."

My point is that Westburg isn’t the only college bat in the general vicinity of his draft slot who was initially placed in low A. You definitely could have argued for starting him in hi A, and if he’d hit about as well as he has there, moving him up to AA a month ago or even a little earlier, like Mitchell (1.124 OPS in 28 games at hi A), Dingler (.925 OPS in 32 games at hi A) or DeLoach (.930 OPS in 58 games at hi A). Westburg hasn’t hit quite as well as those guys in hi A (.865 in 61 games), but he’s certainly hit well enough to warrant a promotion. Honestly I don't know if the kid has a name, never watched the Harry Potter movies. He was FAT KID #3 in the credits.
ShoelesJoe
Played CF tonight and went 1-3 with a double and a walk. Also had an outfield assist.
DirtyBird
100+ exit velo on the double and also comebacker off the pitcher's leg in first AB.
Moose Milligan
Just remember: It's all downhill from here for this kid. He'll struggle somewhere in AA or AAA and there will be whining about how we should have picked someone else.

Why aren't they calling him up?
Tony-OH
Only downside last night was his misread of a ball that dropped in front of him. It was twilight and we don't know how much outfield he has played during that time in his career. He's actually bigger than I thought. Not Teter huge, but he's built a lot like Gunnar Henderson. Just Regular
He is truly Markakis. For the pregame show tonight, Melewski canned some stuff from Delmarva yesterday, including a Cowser interview of two questions. Mrs. OrioleDog aided with the stopwatch and the "you know" tabulation. We got 10 in 57 seconds.
