It’s not about viewing him as a regular, but rather an option if needed. And again, it’s spring. Who cares.

That’s just it, though. He’s not an option in the OF. And it IS spring training, you see them stretching out guys as considerations for the rotation. Trying guys at positions to get them more familiar with it. Hardly an attitude of “who cares”.

He might have been able to truck some batters with that.

Not many at the ML level. The fastball just doesn’t move at all so it’s easy for batters to zero in on it.
