Depending on the PTBNL it’s looking like Velez was the 4th piece of the trade for us. At least I hope. He probably is just a starter for now. Reliever long term.

We’re not exactly over flowing with starting pitching. He’s a potential B reliever/ up and down guy. 
 

Somebody has to start these games and eat IP.

I was at the game today. Wasn't particularly impressed with his stuff. FB was 89-91. Randy Wolf might be a ceiling comp.

If he turns out to be just a decent multi-inning bullpen piece for the major league team, that would be a win.

Absolutely, I will be rooting for him like all our guys. He did keep the unstoppable Kerry Carpenter from doing any damage. Against our other pitchers he had 5 HR in the six game series!

I think this guy is just an org guy to eat innings. We don’t really invest draft capital in SP so we have a guy like this. Best case scenario is that he’s an up/down guy at some point.
