Im so glad he said we'll know soon' date=' and im trying not to get too worked up over the rest :eektf::eektf::eektf:[/quote']

I will be very happy if this thing concludes this week. I want Tex bad, but it takes 25 men to run this ship, lets bag this one and move on!

All signs are pointing to Tex becoming an Oriole. The question is when?

From that encounter, it sounds like Belkast's prediction of this week is pretty accurate...

As a side note, he said Teixeira's wife was at the game with him. So that would lend a little more credibility to the Tex and her having lunch at the Hilton. I've hounded her so much about it in the last hour, that I may be sleeping in the spare room tonight.

Also, the Trooper said that he believes Tex was escorted from the wharehouse to M&T because he was arriving late to the game. Tex got to the game midway into the 1st qt.

As a side note, my gf isn't a big sports fan, she knows nothing of the Tex drama. So, she can't be pulling this out of the air.

I understand the thinking and hoping this is the case, but how many free agents followed A-Rod to Texas? Chan Ho Park? Not that it won't happen, but it can be argued the only reason Teixeira is even considering the O's is the hometown angle (assuming other things - $$$ - are equal). Does that really mean other players are going to come to Baltimore if they are looking to win now?

I'm not trying to offend, I just want to know what historical basis people are using when they say other free agents will come here? Of course if the FO throws enough money at them, they might. But doesn't this go against the rebuild a lot of fans want to see?

Well one thing is for sure- it can't hurt! Any signing like this can only improve the Orioles image and that is always a good thing. Even if we don't sign any more tickets this year- maybe his presence at the Yard brings in more fans- which in turn is noticed by other players who visit Baltimore as opponents during the year... maybe we win a few more games and show even more improvement.

Being a hometown guy with his bat and potential- there is no telling what signing him could lead to- and i apologize for the dramatization here- but I really think the significance in him signing here goes beyond rational explanation. I think beyond the stats and the image- it's just a feeling.

Besides- with MacPhail in tow and the want to win now obviously in the FO, I think they'll be willing to doll out some more FA dollars to get the pieces needed.

Well, a departure from the Warehouse is always a good thing.

Side note, you have definitely kept the smoke coming and that helps us out at such dry moments!

Why would Teix need a police escort though? Did Phelps and Lavell get that?

I just asked her, and she said when the Orioles are having a special visitor, the Orioles ask for police help, so they don't have to hire an outside security agency. She said the Troopers do O.T when they get asked, but its mostly done by city police.

Yes Phelps got the same treatment.

She said to keep in mind, these aren't going to be uniformed officers. They're doing overtime, and they will be in plain clothes. So, you wouldn't know he was even being escorted by police. Atleast on the inside of the stadium.

Not to be a downer- but to play devil's advocate. If he was fortunate enough to have a police escort from the BALTIMORE City police- I kinda doubt that he'd want his words to insinuate he WASN'T coming here when asked.

I just hope it wasn't the case of a policeman hearing what he wanted to hear.

Sure would be great though!

This is why we cannot discredit some of those offers out there with unknown teams. For instance Andy P. While I would not want him on a 3 yr. deal, this could be a move on the FO's part to sustain a win now theory with upside.

NOW THAT IS POSITIVE INFO! WOW! So PA got wind of the Firestone entry here and decided to play it close to the vest- keeping him hidden by bringing him in AFTER the game started- knowing all reporters will have to be focused on the game at that point!

Now that's exciting news.

Not to get off topic, but that pisses me off. The Orioles don't want to pay for security so they ask for police because its "free" and have the city aka the taxpayer foot the bills on cops with OT. Buncha cheapskates.

Anyways, thanks for the info Intimidator. I also got the pleasure of seeing my rep to you be the difference between your first and second pip. I think its the first time I've noticed myself be a pipmaker.

Agreed, he obviously would not want to alert the other players in the Tex war that he was in our backyard...
