Wednesday, July 6: Orioles try to get their first series sweep since last July vs Nats

Gametime:  7:05 pm

Weather:  84 degrees, significant chance of rain.  Rain expected in the 8-9 PM hour.  Tarp as on the field as of 5:45, per Roch.  The Rangers' only trips to the  Eastern time zone the rest of the year are to Boston (with no surrounding open dates), Miami (with no surrounding open dates), and Tampa.   So they will probably try as hard as possible to get this one in.   Finding a makeup date would be difficult.   Perhaps September 15, before Texas goes to Tampa for 3, and after the Orioles play 2 in DC and then go to Toronto for 3, is the best possibility.

Roster MoveNick Vespi optioned to Norfolk;  Beau Sulser recalled.  (In a roster move that does not impact the active MLB roster, just the 40 man roster, the Orioles acquired pitcher Kirk McCarty on waivers from Cleveland and optioned him to Norfolk, and DFA'd Marcos Diplan).

Good quick first for Watkins.   Gotta get as many innings in as we can before the rain comes, because if Watkins can't come back out after a delay our already-thin bullpen would have to cover the remaining innings.

Some less than stellar defense by the Rangers and the Os take advantage.  McKenna hits a seemingly harmless infield single by virtue of his speed and two score.

Means makes it to the booth for some fried chicken and catching up.

Hope it’s a good game the rest of the way!
