The challenge was nowhere near 50/50. The throw wasn't even close to the bag. MASN didn't show the replay but it sounded like even the Jays fans watching on the board thought he was safe.

Both teams have the same record currently, so yes. The Oriole would be a half game back of the Blue Jays if they hold onto this lead.

I think if you factor leverage of getting out of the inning by getting Mateo out, versus getting a runner at first with 2 outs, the challenge on Mateo's pickoff attempt still makes more sense.  Reasonable minds can disagree here though.
