Trade Value

Per baseballtradevalues.com, Akin is worth $5.5 mm, Hays $16.3 mm, Urias $10.9 mm.   So, together they’re worth $32.7 mm in value.

Just to pick a pitcher who’s been a popular topic of discussion here, Pablo Lopez of the Marlins is valued at $38.7 mm.   So, if one believes this website, those the players wouldn’t get you Lopez.  On the other hand, Hays and Urias ($27.2 mm) might get you Jesus Luzardo ($27.1 mm).   Are you ready to pull the trigger?  He’s a Super-2 with 4 years of team control remaining, and had a breakout year in 2022.

What’s fun about that site is that according to them, we could trade for Ohtani, Trout, Sandoval, Detmers, and Rendon for Joey Ortiz and technically, we’d be the ones over paying.

Cool site. According to them the Orioles have by far the most valuable farm system. https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/ranking-the-farm-systems-by-trade-value/

It isn't B-Ref but I appreciate anyone in the interwebs doing and sharing the legwork to estimate a few thousand players.

It'll be interesting to see how much they ding Adley if/when his Years of Control drops from 6 to 5.

Next 6 years, they are now valuing his play at worth about $35mm/year, and forecasting about $11mm/year in earnings for a Top 5 MLB-wide placement behind Alek Manoah.

If they just took $24mm off his surplus (I believe the hit will be smaller than that, as effect of Rookie of Year will shorten Arb, not cost BAL minimum wage seasons), he'd drop behind Alcantara, Wander, Riley and McClanahan.

So there are your Adley 1-for-1 hypotheticals, if you believe all 30 Raysian hedge fund clones only care about Surplus Value in remaining years of Club control for balancing trade deals.   Dave Dombrowski might not.
