Excellent.  That means in 3-4 years, just as the Adley teams are peaking, the Yankees will owe about 75 million annually to  a couple of useless pieces.

The Adley teams are now. The peak could start in 2023 if the Orioles weren’t so unbelievably risk adverse

Gunnar's 21.  Grayson is going to be on a pitch limit.  Hall hasn't established  role yet.  Three top 5 picks figure to debut in the next 2 years or so.

This team's going to continue to improve internally for several years now.

They will replace them with the best free agents available lol

That's not always possible.  Even for the Yankees.

Part of what made the O's last playoff runs possible was the fact that the Yankees never won 90 games from 2013-16.  And that was partly due to contracts to aging guys like Tex, Jeter, Sabathia, etc.

Let's stipulate Verlander and Degrom won't come here. Who do you sign? Do you really want Rodon for 7 years?

I know overpaying is "cost of doing business." But let's also stipulate you are allowed one bad contract at a time. You are asking ownership for $20-$30M per and they say they are willing to give it to you, but this is it, no do overs. Is Carlos Rodon the guy you want to overpay for, and do you really want to do it now?

Carlos Rodon just turned 30 is just about to turn 30.    Paying a power pitcher for his 30-36 years is not necesarily a bad thing.  Look at Scherzer and Verlander.  The question, as with any pitcher is health.   Rodon COULD be worth that contract (7/210?).    It's a big gamble but he's the one thing the Orioles don't have.  An ace.  Plus he's lefthanded.    I'd certainly look into getting insurance on that contract if I could but I'd be tempted to go all in on Rodon.

The Orioles are never going to sign a pitcher like that unless a new billionaire buys them.
Plus TOR pitchers are overvalued as to needing them to win the WS  .. look at Verlander 16-11 in playoffs , Scherzer 7-7 , Verlander 1-6 in WS ?
Either way .. the only TOR we will ever see here will come from Norfolk.

We hope.  There are no guarantees.  They threw away a potential playoff spot last year because of the attitude “everything will be good long term”.  That’s the wrong attitude.
