Kjerstad went 1-2 does he have a higher ceiling than Gunnar?

Dunno, but neither of them have the ceiling of a 1-1.  OPs q was what players have the highest ceiling.  Not sure how anyone can argue against the two 1-1s as the players with the highest ceilings in the system.

Henderson, I believe, has the highest ceiling of all position players. He and Adley realistically have HOF ceilings with Henderson having to hit better for longer because of his position. Adley can play Buster Posey for the same kind of short career and reach HOF status where Gunnar has to hit longer and play plus defense.

My thoughts on some of the points made.

Bautista - Is not just a reliever. He is a dominating closer.  4 or 5 years of what we saw last year would be very valuable.  Think Zack Britton.  That is his ceiling IMO.

Mountcastle - Powerful guy.  But can he adjust  his hitting style to the Wall.   Davis couldn't adjust.  If he doesn't he is a average player.  Mountcastle defense has improve but that arm is one of the worst in the league for a 1B.

Santander - Is probably at his peak at 33 HR. 89 RBI.   Look as the player lower on the list.  How may of them can reach that level.  Maybe Kjerstad but there is much more uncertainty looking forward.

Wildcard brings up a good question:

How many position players on this list will have an MLB season as good as Santander's 2022 season from the plate?  Maybe 2?

Of course they are but they shouldn’t be automatics based on their draft position.

Sure.  In a vacuum.

But when the consensus 1-1 rips through the minors and lights up MLB looking like a top 3 at his position & the consensus 1-1 HS short stop steps up and makes the game look slow, how on earth can you put anyone else in the system above them in terms of pure ceiling.  Both were unanimous top talent and have only improved.  Can’t say that for the others in the system.  Heck - people were not super high on Gunnar this time last year and are already worried he might not hit lefties.

I didn't say that.

I would say that Spencer Torkelson doesn't have a "1-1" ceiling.

I didn’t say you did.  It was a question.

High draft pedigree + high performances = highest ceiling.  In my world at least.  If those two had foundered at all, sure it could be up for debate.  But they have not.  They have the pedigree, they have the best tools, they have the highest ceiling IMO.

You are making the case for Holliday and Rutschman because their performance to date has justified their draft position.  That isn’t always the case.  I still think Gunnar has a higher ceiling than Holliday but I can understand someone disagreeing.
