Sorry, had to dig this thread up since we tried the 'BBQ' last night.

$40 later, I'll pass (even at $10 it's a pass). There are way better choices and it seems everyone knows from such a short line at Boogs.

Honestly, I think a Big Boogs is worth the price.  I compare stadium food to what I would get at a restaurant, and at a high-end smokehouse, I’d spend close to $20 for a BBQ sandwich.  Granted……for that same price at home with my meat slicer, I can probably get enough to last me a months worth of work lunches, but again, I rate stadium prices different.

I’m hesitant to suggest this, but Deddle’s Doughnuts behind 78/80 is worth the price.  $10 for the small box, $18 for the large, and you can get the doughnuts with a choice of glaze, topping and sauce.  For a gourmet doughnut, I’d put them up with anyone.

The new chicken place at the city Eutaw Street entrance is pretty good this year too and worth the price.  I do want to try the smash burger and the pupusaria soon

****Forgive me on the prices, I do get the STH discount so I might be quoting my prices.

I just think the Boogs sandwiches are bad. I used to enjoy them so I’m not sure if I’ve started going to better pit beef places or if they’ve gotten worse.
That said, I typically judge a BBQ place by the quality of their sides, Boog’s beans are an insult to baked beans, especially at that price.

I went to a Washington Capitals game last week and they were charging $25 for a cheeseburger.  And not a particularly big cheeseburger.

There's a Twitter/Instagram channel/feed called FootieScran, I don't know if I'm mentioned it before. It encourages people to post photos of food from soccer matches around the world along with prices, and you vote if it's "scran" or not. Scran being some kind of English slang for good food.

Whenever something from the US is posted 99% of the time the comments are like "yea, that looks good, but why does it cost more than my house?"

It really looks like that if you go to a match in Europe, South America, Asia you can expect to pay 20-50% of the cost of US stadium food. Most places outside of US/Canada you can get something like a sausage and a beer for $5-10. At Borussia Dortmund you can get 5-6 beers (German bier!) for the cost of a single beer at most US stadiums.

I'm going to see DC United on Saturday and fully expect to pay well over $100 for food for my family of four.

I think the quality has gone down since they started pre cooking it in the warehouse and carting it down.  And of course the charm of the smoke cloud wafting over Eutaw St is gone too.

Just a heads up Rasa as well as Swizzler (one of the best burgers I’ve ever had) by nats park/navy yard metro are very  good fast casual dinner options.

Regarding what Frobby was saying about the Chinatown arena, Leonsis really has no shame. His food quality and prices are about as bad as his pro basketball team. I don’t go to many Georgetown games now but if I do I just hit up one of the noodle/dumpling spots prior to tip-off.

In regards to the general topic, I’ve stopped buying food and beer at nearly any sporting event I go to as the prices are outrageous especially at the walgreen where it’s $24 for craft beer.

Some parks still offer cheap food and beer like the Braves and when I was at Mariners game few weeks ago, beers were $4,5,6 all game.

I do want to try the donuts. Just saw them on the stadium app the next day.

Definitely try to do it early.  They got a huge line on Friday and it never really went down.  You had to commit to standing in it.  They do have a capacity constraint

It's been several years since I actually felt like my Boogs was really good. The quality has certainly gone downhill.

Our attendance would go up if they started lowering concession prices and bleacher seats. Let fans spend 20-30$ to get a ticket, beer and hot dog.

You want the Orioles and Marlins game. lol

I heard $5 tickets this week.

    • I honestly think there is very little difference in most the teams that made the playoffs.  The most wins was 98 wins and there was 12 teams with 86 wins or more.  It also seems that many of the teams are on the same page with scouting and analytics now hitting wise.  Years back you had moneyball which the A’s used before anyone else.  Then the Astros and few teams started with analytics and seemed to be ahead of the rest of the league but they have caught up now imo.  Now the move seems to be on launch angle and hitting homers by getting the ball in the air but that seems to be across the league.  Obviously some teams have more money and more talented players but the strategy seems about the same.  The main differences I see is in pitching in the playoffs which is bullpen games and using openers rather then a starter to go 7 innings and carry your team to win now a slight sign of trouble they are taking them out.  With all these short inning guys and pitching them in certain pockets we are seeing very little offense and the hitting with runners in scoring position has been awful.  It all comes down to RISP at bats and getting 1 or 2 big base hits in those situations.  We just haven’t been able to get those hits so far in short series.
    • And we've seen similar with Kjerstad. Kjerstad might be the best pure hitting prospect in the Orioles system of recent years besides Gunnar. I want to see him playing everyday next year is possible none of this sitting him versus LHP more often than not. These prospects need to get their reps and stop treating them like John Lowenstein and Benny Ayala.
    • I don’t see Elias trading off prospects anymore at least top guys.  We have moved a few guys in last year and I expect they try to build that back up.  They should have money to use if they want to add talent.
    • Blah, well Rob Manfred has to be happy along with Fox network. A Yankees-Mets World Series match up is still on the table and the Dodgers as well if they win tomorrow. I knew the Royals would get jettisoned by the Yankees without too much of a fight.
    • For Mountcastle …Maybe Chase Petty and Tristan Smith?
    • I’m guessing they ask for Mayo or Basallo of Kjerstad. For me …I’d give them Kjerstad since he’s defensively challenged IMO. Maybe Kjerstad, McDermott, Beavers, and O’Ferrall?
    • 192 wins in two seasons is a pretty strong argument to stay the course.  That said, I wonder if the young players wouldn't be better off long-term if the scientific matchups took a back seat to the raw talent a little more than we've seen.  Overthinking something can be a thing you know.
