I can't be the only one who is a little suspicious about the three guys who were in the booth last night all of a sudden being sent home with Covid...

Palmer tweeted about it.  He would not lie about something like that.  I know we live in a world where no one believes anything but this is legit.

Only Palmer has COVID. The others have to be kept home because they were exposed.

That has changed.  If no symptoms you just have to wear a mask and get tested and see if any symptoms after 10 days. Obviously calling a ballgame with a mask on would be problematic.

I don’t think there’s any requirement even like that anymore.

My God, I'd love to be a fly on the wall around John Angelos the past few days.  Connolly reported that he's pissed, I'd love to see it firsthand.

It was truly amazing to see this go from a bit of a rumor on Monday morning to a full blown national news story Monday evening and carry on throughout the day yesterday and into today.  And when you've got guys like Jeremy Schaap and Al Michaels commenting on it, you know you've done ****ed up.

I'd give any amount of money to have been able to observe JA over the past few days.

I would like to observe him leaving town after signing the lease

Reading his article I did not know he had paid an announcers pay for a whole year but did not allow him back on.  Doubt Kevin Brown ever returns now.

What did Steinbrenner do that finally got MLB to take his control away for three/four years?  Was it the spying on Dave Winfield?

They have historically not liked doing anything to an owner but they have actually acted before.   Maybe a three year suspension of Angelos would slow his roll some?

I watched the Astros TV broadcast tonight in my market (TX/DFW area).  The Houston announcer duo of Kalas and ex/MLer Geoff Blum are really a joy to listen to. Fantastic at their jobs. Very complementary of the Os and the young core, even mentioning Elias and Sig a couple of times. The nerve of them, right? 😅

Anyhow, late in the game, Kalas made mention of the lack of being swept over the last 75 series since Adley was called up.

Blum took that and ran with it and said, “Oh, I thought you were gonna say they haven’t lost a series since Kevin Brown started announcing for them.”  HILARIOUS!! 😂🤣

    • Holliday went 1 for 2 with 3 walks on Friday night. 2024: .444 OBP, .911 OPS MiLB Career: .447 OBP, .931 OPS His OBP is EXACTLY what this O's team needs, would fill a key offensive weakness at 2nd base, help grind opposing pitching, and magnify the power up and down the lineup.  It's all dependent on his ability to throw and play 2B at a passable level. If Holliday starts to hit at the ML level, the question of who bats leadoff is over for the foreseeable future and we can go back to complaining about 1 slumping hitter or backup catcher at the bottom of the lineup.
    • This. We literally have no lineup holes right now, and Mayo, Norby, Jax lurk. Any trade discussion should center around the four most essential and crucial elements to O's success for the balance of the regular season and playoffs: 1. pitching 2. pitching 3. pitching 4. damn, forgot the 4th one. oh yeah, its pitching.
    • All I know is that Suárez has earned at least one more start, after today.
    • Scherzer still looks like a guy who would be a nice add to our rotation in the second half if the Rangers are sellers.
    • Not happening. I don’t disagree, but Kremer will be slotted in the rotation.
    • I wouldn’t either but the word here is that he’s going back to rotation . Suarez supposedly the one  to be moved to bullpen . I think they should wait and see if Irvin can rebound . If Irvin can’t match Suarez’s work, then he should be moved to bullpen
    • Yes that’s what I was asking. COC was completely off base in his comment. Judge is a great player, and apparently a nice guy. I have nothing against him, or most Yankees, for that matter, though Gil’s tats are off putting. I am expecting a bit of pro Yankee bias, but that’s ok. Also, home runs is a very glittery stat, and might sway some folks. But it should be Gunnar, at least based on the first 81.
