What's more concerning is that his defense has fallen off quite a bit.  If you're going to hit .220 you have to be a great defender and he's taken a pretty big step back from last year.  He's still above average but not by nearly enough.

I am convinced Elias is keeping Mateo on the team for one reason.   Speed.  I think they can imagine putting him in as a pinch runner in games where we have to score one run.   He probably is on the post season roster and does not start at all.
